She is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and specializes in the treatment of complex trauma, dissociative disorders, and pregnancy & infant loss. She holds a Master of Arts in Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling and is a fully trained EMDR Therapist. She also holds an Advanced Certificate in Complex Trauma & Dissociation from The Center for Advanced Studies in Trauma & Dissociation, a division of The International Society for the Study of Trauma & Dissociation. She is a certified religious trauma therapist and trained in treating survivors of sex trafficking. Learn more.
She offers individual and group therapy as well as supervision for students and provisionally licensed therapists.
Joy
is the mother of five amazing humans on earth & four babies lost to miscarriage and stillbirth. She is a survivor of child abuse/neglect, familial sex-trafficking, and domestic violence. She is passionate about helping other survivors recover from trauma as they find their voice and grow in their capacity to experience true and lasting joy.
Prior to becoming a therapist Joy served as the founder & director of New Creation Birth Services (Now New Creation Birth And Family Services). In many ways her experiences as a birth & bereavement doula and childbirth educator prepared her for her role as therapist. Providing comfort and education to families about how to cope with the pain of labor and the challenges of parenting allowed her to learn first hand ways to provide support. In particular her work with families as they walked through grief & loss gave her experience with being a witness to those enduring suffering & adversity. She continues to serve a limited number of birth clients.
